About Us

Change and healing come from two places One is the mind, I think I can I think I can.
The second is the heart, you have to want to make the change to heal. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Ian Smiley

Ian Smiley, Co-Owner, LMT

Hello!

I chose to pursue a career in massage therapy due to my genuine desire to assist people, coupled with an enduring fascination for the intricacies of the human body. My focus has predominantly revolved around delving into neuromuscular therapy, where I concentrate on utilizing insights from the nervous system to effectively alleviate muscle tension.

My academic journey commenced at Belmont University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in athletic training. Building upon this foundational knowledge, I continued my education at Mind Body Institute to become a massage therapist.

When I'm not working or learning more I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exercise, and playing video games.

What led YOU to massage? What symptoms are YOU feeling? Low on energy? Stressed? Tense? Sore? Notice something different about your range of motion? The most important part about what YOU read in this bio is how YOU relate to the modalities we practice.

Laura Pilato

Laura Pilato

Originally from Rochester, NY, my family and I moved to Tennessee in October of 2021 and originally settled in Mount Juliet. I instantly fell in love with the Mount Juliet area and am excited to work within the MJ community.
I graduated from the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in Rochester, NY in December of 2017 and have been practicing ever since. I have experience in a wide variety of massage modalities with my area of expertise being in deep tissue, trigger point therapy and orthopedic massage. I am very passionate in my work and always pride myself in providing a safe, trusting and therapeutic environment for my clients.

When I am not doing massage I am in mom mode, spending time with my daughter, my husband and our 3 dogs. We love spending time doing anything outdoors and any time we can get in the water! I love reading and have recently began gardening.

Eboni Singleton

Eboni Singleton

HI! My name is Eboni Singleton. I am a Nashville Native. In 2021, I took a part-time job at a local spa. Unbeknownst to me, that decision would change my life. I took a deep dive into my own healing process to find my purpose. That led me to Mind Body Institute where I studied massage therapy. I shifted my focus from Corporate America to learn a new skill. And here we are! I am in a space that I love doing what I love. I specialize in intuitive massage. I intend to give my clients exactly what they need while in a session with me. This includes relaxation-based and therapeutic techniques.
In my free time, I enjoy sun gazing and spending time in nature. A random fun fact about me is that my home looks like a mini jungle due to all the trees, vines, and other plants I take care of. I also enjoy reading books related to helping me grow in this gift. I look forward to working with you! Let's release what no longer serves you!

Aileen Callahan

My educational background includes a bachelor of arts in Physical Education from North Park University in Chicago. After 15 years with Wilson Sporting Goods and a desire to be directly involved in health and wellness I entered the Massage Therapy program at Harper College in Palatine, IL. I have over 8 years of general massage experience.I was drawn to Body In Balance because SuperSwedish massage is my wheelhouse - after all I am half Swedish! The definition accurately describes my technique of combining therapeutic massage, stress relief and relaxation tying it all together with traditional Swedish massage. I LOVE being a massage therapist.

I am certified in prenatal & hot stone massage, assisted stretch, psoas release and a level 2 reiki practitioner. I am also comfortable working with children, elderly and physically fragile clients because it doesn't have to hurt to help.

My husband and I relocated to Old Hickory in 2022. I enjoy the outdoors, upcycling, DIY & taking advantage of all the Nashville area has to offer.

Darin Penner

Darin Penner

Darin has been a Licensed Massage Therapist in Tennessee since 2004. The techniques he uses are a combination of relaxation, therapeutic, myofascial release, trigger point, deep tissue and intuitive.
"When first starting out as a massage therapist one of the first comments/compliments I received was from a gentleman that had not been able to get on the floor to play with his grandson. He thanked me for my work at his next session. He told me how he was able to get on the floor to play with his grandson again and how much he appreciated my help.
I had another client thank me for my work with tears of gratitude in her eyes as she said to me, "you don't know how much you have helped me". These are the kinds of words that are priceless to me and keep me going in this line of work. When you can make a difference in someone's life for the better, you just want to keep doing that."
Darin has lived in the Nashville area since the late 1980's. Aside from massage therapy, Darin is also a Realtor in the middle Tennessee area. He also enjoys singing, recording music and likes to write poetry from time to time. He is learning to play the guitar to be able to put his words to music and hopes to be able to add songwriting to his repertoire.
